(1) The mission of the education program is to promote educational programs that foster the preservation of Samish culture and traditions and instill a desire for lifelong learning in all Samish Tribal citizens.

(2) The purpose of these policies and procedures is to provide guidance for the administration of supplemental funding for students attending K – 12 schools who require tutoring assistance to achieve grade level standards and for students/adults who are seeking support which would allow them to complete the requirements for their GED or equivalent certificate.

(3) Families are primarily responsible for paying the educational costs of their student(s). The Samish Nation provides supplemental funding only and is not able to finance the entire educational costs of all students.

(4) Therefore, it is necessary to establish these policies and procedures to ensure that the Tribe’s limited funds are distributed equitably and to ensure that funding will be available to future generations to pursue completion of K – 12 education. [Res. 2021-12-032 § 1, 2021.]
