(1) The standard workweek shall consist of 40 hours of work per week. All Tribal offices will be open Monday through Friday with flexible hours between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., depending on departmental needs and supervisor’s approval, unless officially closed for a Tribal holiday, adverse weather conditions, Tribal Council declared state of emergency, or such other functions such as funerals as are expressly approved by Chief Executive Team or the Tribal Council. Employees with approved flexible work hours, outside of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., may not have support available from support departments and staff members (for example, IT, Finance, HR) until those department standard work hours are available.

(a) Employees shall have a half hour lunch break, which is not paid, and two 15-minute paid breaks for each full day worked. No employee shall work through the lunch break or other breaks and add that time to his or her hours worked without the prior, express written approval of the employee’s supervisor.

(b) Each supervisor has the responsibility to ensure that sufficient Tribal staff are working on a daily basis to conduct Tribal business and meet the needs of our citizens and clients.

(2) Nonstandard Work Schedules. All flexible work schedules must be approved by the appropriate Chief Executive Team member and the nonstandard work schedule shall be in the best interest of the organization. This approval will be placed in the employee’s personnel file.

(3) Reporting on Time. Employees are expected to be at the work site, including hybrid workplace, ready to begin work at the start of their shift; an employee who reports late to work once a week or more will be subject to disciplinary action.

(4) Notification of Late Arrival. Employees have a responsibility to contact their direct supervisors within 15 minutes of their scheduled start time if they will be late. Nonexempt employees who report to work late will not be paid for time missed. [Res. 2022-10-016 § 1, 2022.]
