(1) The appropriate Chief Executive Team member may approve leave for administrative purposes as follows:

(a) Jury Duty. Tribal employees who are required to serve on a jury will be entitled to paid administrative leave for the period of time such service requires, if service is required on a regularly scheduled workday for the employee.

(b) Cultural Leave. The Tribe recognizes the need for the promotion of Samish culture in all departments. Administrative leave with pay may be taken by a regular employee to attend Tribally approved cultural functions. Cultural leave must be approved in advance by the employee’s department director. Cultural leave will not exceed 40 hours per year per employee (prorated for part-time employees.) The department director shall base leave approvals on the department’s workload and staffing needs and ensure equal opportunity amongst department employees.
