(1) Termination of employment may also occur as a result of a reduction of work and consequent reduction of staff, a reduction of budget, the completion of a program, or the completion of grant-funded activity. The appropriate Chief Executive Team member will authorize the order of force reduction.

(2) Employees who are to be terminated for such reasons shall be given written notice 30 days prior to their termination date, or as much notice as possible. Such employees shall be given preference for one year following their termination date for future job openings, and the regular hiring procedure need not be followed if an employee is qualified and was terminated under this section. If a laid-off employee is rehired within 12 months of the layoff, the employee will retain their previous leave accrual status, and such reemployment shall not constitute a break in service for purposes of Tribal benefits.
