(1) The Samish Indian Nation is a grantee for Early Childhood Education from the Department of Health and Human Services currently operating under a Head Start grant. The provisions in this chapter are required in order to comply with the requirements of the Early Childhood Education grant and apply only to employees assigned to the Longhouse Preschool Head Start Program. In many instances, these policies in this chapter supplement the other provisions of the Personnel Policies. Except where specifically stated in this chapter, all other sections of this policy apply to the Head Start staff as well.

(2) The Samish Indian Nation Tribal Council delegates to the Head Start Policy Council areas of oversight. Areas to be addressed include: the mandated responsibilities and involvement of parents as outlined in the Head Start performance standards. [Res. 2022-10-016 § 1, 2022.]
