(1) Safety of our students and the quality of services they receive are the top priorities when considering awarding assistance funds. Families and parents are solely responsible for identifying and submitting appropriate individual tutors/service providers for tutoring of K – 12 students. We encourage families to pursue due diligence when selecting a tutor for your student, including requesting background check results.

(2) Service providers submitted as part of a complete application for assistance are reviewed for approval based on the following priorities:

(a) Services provided by professional tutoring organizations (e.g., Red Barn, Sylvan, etc.).

(b) Tutor recommended by school/district staff or associated with school/district tutoring center/program.

(c) Tutoring provided by certified teacher.

(d) Tutoring provided by college student/recent college grad with major in area of assistance for K – 12 applicants.

(e) Tutoring provided by high school student for elementary school applicants.

(f) Immediate family members will not be approved as tutors.

(3) Payment for Services.

(a) No payments may be made in advance of service.

(b) All payments will be based on invoices submitted directly to the Education Program Manager by the service provider for services rendered.

(c) All service providers must have current tax documentation (W-9, etc.) on file prior to payment authorization/distribution.

(d) Families are responsible for any expenses incurred above the approved assistance amount as defined in the funding agreement.

(e) Allow three to four weeks after submission of invoice for processing and distribution of payment.

(f) There will be no retroactive payment for services provided prior to enrolling in this supplemental education assistance program. [Res. 2021-12-032 § 1, 2021.]
